About Me

Aladar
Aladar Stolmar is one of the first Hungarian nuclear engineers educated in Moscow, USSR. During the Paks Nuclear Power Plant design and equipment supply contract negotiations, he, along with Soviet partners, developed the revised—and applied to new Soviet-built VVER nuclear power plants—safety standards corresponding to the international nuclear power plant safety standards. In connection to this effort, he participated in a failed attempt—never before published—to apply the same standards to the Chernobyl-type nuclear power plants with RBMK reactors in the Soviet Union. In 1985, when the Hungarian court proceedings related to Nuclear Power Plant Paks were declared secret, he emigrated to the United States. Aladar participated in the U.S. Department of Energy’s effort to force the Soviet Union to report—for the first time in its history reporting about an internal event—to the international community about the Chernobyl disaster. Starting from 1973 he also developed the modern atomic theory and its consequences on cosmology and astrophysics. On bullshit in Physics is presented in the blog Stolmar Physics.
